Main details
- Wiki title: The Jedi Council Forums Wiki
- Content language: en
Description
What will this wiki be about? What sort of articles will be included?
- This Wiki will be based on the Jedi Council Forums located on TheForce.Net Message Boards. These message boards are some of the largest on the internet today, consisting of over 100,000 users and averaging about 8,000 posts per day. This Wiki will give users advantages of creating articles on their Fan Fictions, Role Playing Games, and much more that they have created on the forums, and increase the rapidly growing popularity of the site.
Community
Who will edit this wiki? Is there already a community around this topic? How will you promote the wiki to ensure at least 20 people join? Give links to forums on this topic if you know of any.
- TheForce.Net members will be able to edit and create their own articles, basing them on created Fan Fics, RPGs, Fan Clubs, etc. that have been established on the TF.N forums. This Wiki will be promoted all over the message boards, and possibly be linked to on the main page.
Additional Information
Add any information that supports why this wiki should exist. Include links to Wikipedia articles on this topic or to other websites that show this is a popular topic.
- A Wiki of the TF.N Role Playing Forum has already been created, and is rapidly growing more popular everyday. The Role Playing Forum is just a slice of the very large pizza that is TheForce.Net Message Boards, and this Wiki will incorporate all forums of the site.
Categories
Which categories should this wiki be in? For example, sports, or arts, or hobbies? Look through the Wikia categories for ideas. Your wiki can be in more than one category. Put them in Category:Uncategorized, removing the colon ":" and replacing "Uncategorized" with the actual category name.

I think this is a good idea. We could definately use our own wiki, though I think it would be better suited for just the RP section. But, hell, why not go one step further and just do all of TFN, eh? - Swordofraditz 01:14, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
It is not just a forum, its a college of clubs, small organizations like the Fan Force, entertainment in the form of RPGs, Fan Fiction, Text Games and hot debates; all of which can be best viewed under its own wiki rather than under several wikis. - CmdrMitthrawnuruodo
I'd vote no. It takes a dedicated staff to babysit a wiki, and I don't think we've got that. About the only real thing we can't cover is the Non-Star Wars RPF, doesn't seem like it warrants its own when we can browse the wikia network. - Unsigned comment from Lightwarden
I think that a RP wiki would rule! The RP wiki would definitely be useful to the players. An entire TF.N wiki? Hey I think that would work to. There are so many sections and areas that the wiki could be useful for that I say hell yeah lets go with it.-Beast
Beast and I were discussing this, and I think at most we would need the wiki to cover the RPFs, Fanfic, and possibly certain areas of Lit (NRW and the WTS thread). Maybe some EUC stuff would be welcome, but then you're mostly just creating a wiki for a fan club, which doesn't seem quite necessary to me. SephyCloneNo15
- While we're generally receptive to community wikis, there's a few points I'd like you to consider before deciding whether you want this:
- We have SWFanon (info), which welcomes Star Wars fan fiction, and SWGames (info), which welcomes Star Wars roleplaying -- your communities might be able to do well creating your own categories of pages there. (See all of our other wikis in Wikia:Category:Star Wars too.)
- Wikis about forum communities, in our experience, don't often do well in the long term. Unless there's at least a small community of people who are willing to look at Recentchanges and work on the wiki every day, they soon become out of date and more and more difficult to maintain. Many of them become the targets of forum trolls, who can be harder to ban here.
- Text contributed to Wikia wikis must be licensed under the GFDL, including fiction -- this isn't usually a big deal for fanfic, but it's something authors ought to be aware of before signing on for this.
- It sounds like maybe your community needs to discuss this a little more before coming to a decision. Let us know whether you want to press forward with this. — Catherine o' the ComTeam 01:23, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
Did you know there's already a wiki for TF.N at tf.n.wikia.com? Would this content fit there? Angela talk 22:23, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
