From Proposals for new Wikia sites

The requests wiki is a new wiki-based approach to deciding which wikis Wikia should create. Previously, requests were submitted by email and the Community Team made this decision. Now, the Wikia community has a role. By typing {{support}} on a request page, you can influence the decision to create the wiki, and push the good requests to the top of the queue. You can also collaborate on requests and improve them to ensure good proposals are developed here.

Here are some things you can do to help.

• Improve the instructions and link to translations from them at Request/instructions and Request/outline.

• Create redirects to any page with {{exists}} on it. For example, redirect Star Wars to starwars or place {{existspar|starwars}} on the Star Wars page.

• Visit Request Wiki:Templates and make translations of the most commonly used templates.

• Look at the Open requests

  fix up formatting

  make sure a language category is included

  add categories to pages without any (Category:Uncategorized)

  add your comments - should this be a new Wikia?

  redirect duplicate requests to a page with {{exists}} on it.

[edit] Making decisions

If you have any doubts, please add a comment in the comment section rather than using a template.

Anyone is free to use the more info needed template ({{i}}).

Only staff may use the {{accept}} template since at this time, only staff can create wikis.

If you are not staff but think a wiki should be accepted or rejected, please use {{support}}, {{neutral}}, or {{oppose}} to show your interest for the proposal. You can do that by typing

in the comments sections.

Please do not remove content when you add a template so that others can review the decision. Simply add your template (such as {{university}}) at the top of the page and change the "open requests" category to a "closed requests" category.

Please do not delete past requests. These are useful for people who might try to make the same request in future.

See Category:Candidates for deletion for a list of pages that require deletion after one week.

Uncategorized pages are likely to be deletion candidates since they do not use the wiki request template.

Staff: add {{subst:no email}} ~~~~ to the talk page of users with no email set.
